PCR consumables are key consumables in molecular experiments and will directly affect the experimental results. So how to choose the right PCR consumables? Next, we will answer 3 questions about consumable materials, production environment and selection techniques to help you easily improve experimental efficiency and accuracy and quickly achieve scientific research breakthroughs.
Why are most PCR consumables made of PP material?
Q: Most of the PCR consumables on the market are made of polypropylene (PP), and other materials are relatively rare. Why is this?
Answer: Because PCR consumables will be in direct contact with reagents or samples, it must be ensured that the consumables used will not react with them.
Aijin PCR consumables are made of polypropylene (PP), which has good biological inertness and does not easily adhere to biological molecules on its surface.
It also has good chemical inertness and temperature tolerance. It can withstand high temperature and autoclave sterilization at 121°C, can also cope with temperature changes during thermal cycling, and can withstand most chemical reagents. These features minimize the absorption of reaction materials, ensuring optimal qPCR results.
Why is the production environment of PCR consumables so important?
Question: Why is it necessary to ensure that PCR consumables are free of contaminants and inhibitors during the production and storage process?
Answer: Since substances have absorbance, very small contaminants on the consumables will also absorb the fluorescence in the reaction system, affecting the fluorescence signal collection, and thus affecting the accuracy of the experimental results. Although the consumables are sterilized by high pressure or radiation before use, only bacteria and DNA enzymes can be removed, and dust and DNA will still remain. Therefore, the production of PCR consumables has extremely high environmental requirements, and the entire process from production to packaging must be carried out in a facility environment with a limited number of particles.
Aijin strictly controls the cleanliness of the environment when producing PCR consumables. All PCR consumables are produced in a 100,000-level dust-free workshop to eliminate external contamination during the production and packaging processes. In addition, our PCR consumables undergo strict quality inspection before leaving the factory to ensure that the cleanliness meets high standards so that researchers can use them with confidence.
How to choose suitable PCR consumables?
1) Transparent tubes, plates and colored plates
The color of the tube has no effect on DNA amplification, so transparent consumables can be used for ordinary PCR experiments. Colored and transparent PCR plates can also meet the needs and are more helpful for sample differentiation.
Aijin also provides removable color PCR plates, which provide more convenience for experimental use of multiple samples.
2) White and frosted tubes and plates
In qPCR experiments, Aijin white and frosted PCR tubes and plates performed particularly well. Compared with transparent tubes and plates, white and frosted tube bodies reduce fluorescence loss due to reduced light transmittance, causing more fluorescence signals to be reflected back to the fluorescence detection module, thereby increasing the signal-to-noise ratio. Moreover, the frosted and white tube walls prevent signal interference between wells to a certain extent, minimizing differences in repeated experiments.
3) Choose the appropriate tube color according to the qPCR instrument
· Top reading signal (the detection module is above the heating module): Aijin transparent, frosted and white PCR tubes/plates are all suitable, but frosted and white tube bodies are more recommended.
· Bottom reading or side reading signal (the detection module is under the heating module): This type of instrument requires a transparent tube body.
When you choose Aijin PCR consumables, you will experience the reliability of the entire process from production to use. Aijin always pays attention to the detailed needs in experiments, and provides more stable support for your experiments through optimized product design and strict quality control.
