The large-mouth pipette tip is a pipette tip designed for pipetting difficult-to-transfer and fragile samples. Compared with ordinary suction tips, it has a larger opening at the lower end, making it easier to drain liquids and providing smaller mechanical shear.
In terms of application, large-mouth pipette tips are ideal for absorbing viscous materials, genomic DNA, and cell culture fluids .

Aijin Biotech's 5mL and 10mL large-capacity pipette tips are available in large and small mouth designs. We are now testing the suction efficiency of the large-mouth pipette tips when absorbing viscous samples.
5/10mL large mouth tip suction efficiency test
Experimental method:
The functions of 5mL and 10mL large-mouth pipette tips were tested by comparing the efficiency and accuracy of glycerol absorption with large-mouth pipette heads of the same specifications.
Instruments and reagents:
Electronic balance, glycerin
Experiment content:
1. Place the 100mL capacity beaker on the electronic balance, peel it, add 20mL of glycerin, weigh and record.
2. Use a 5mL large-mouth pipette to absorb glycerin, and start timing at the same time. Record the time it takes for the pipette head to absorb the liquid when the gun is at full range.
3. After absorbing, weigh the remaining glycerin, calculate the mass of the extracted glycerol, and convert it into the final extracted glycerol volume through density.
4. Repeat the above steps with an ordinary 5mL pipette tip, and compare the pipetting time and pipetting volume to obtain pipetting efficiency and accuracy data.
5. Perform the same experiment with a 10mL pipette tip.
Test results
Conclusion: After testing, compared with ordinary pipette tips, the efficiency of large-mouth pipette tips is significantly improved when removing viscous samples.
