Note on usage
1. Cryotube storage
When using cryovials to store samples, strict requirements must be followed and the cryovials should be placed in a gas phase layer of liquid nitrogen or stored in a refrigerator. If the cryopreservation tube is stored in liquid nitrogen liquid, there is a certain chance that the liquid nitrogen will penetrate into the cryopreservation tube. During recovery, the liquid nitrogen will vaporize and cause an imbalance in the pressure inside and outside the tube. This can easily cause the cryopreservation tube to burst and be biohazardous. At the same time, the volume of frozen samples should not exceed the required working volume of the cryovial.
2. Cryotube recovery
When operating cryopreservation tube resuscitation, use safety protective equipment throughout the process. It is recommended to wear a lab coat and cotton gloves and operate on a safe experimental bench. If conditions permit, please wear goggles or a protective mask. Please be extra careful as indoor temperatures can be higher in the summer than in the winter.
3. Evenly frozen
During the storage process of cryopreserved cells, the freezing temperature of cryogenic tubes must be uniform. Uneven freezing will lead to the formation of ice plugs, which will inhibit the temperature transfer of liquids on both sides, thereby generating dangerously high pressure and causing damage to the cryovials.
4. Cryotubes and screw-top tubes
The two can tolerate different low temperature ranges. Cryotubes are more resistant to low temperatures and can be used in liquid nitrogen environments of -196°C. Conventional cryopreservation tubes are usually only used in -20°C environments. If the low temperature requirements are not high, screw-top tubes can be used instead of cryopreservation tubes.
